Pillow Talk: the wise words of women

August 11, 2026

These Pillow cases were born from the despair over the state of the world especially around political corruption and the charade of power. The title is a nod to the ‘pillow talk’ we crave - smart, respectful and far removed from the smut of corrupt and convicted politicians.

I wanted to centre the wise words of women I admired. Women who spoke with heart centred, grounded approaches to power and held deep respect & care for humanity.

  • Inside the pain of separation is the wisdom of our connection - Rev. Angel Kyodo Williams

  • But oh my love the hierachy of pain is the old way. - Valerie Kaur

  • To be secure in ones convictions is to be absurdly oxymoronic, since conviction is really a sign of insecurity. - Lesley Hazelton

  • We must build communities so anchored in love that authoritarianism can not take root. - Valerie Kaur, See No Stranger

Islands of Sanit →

These quilts are made on the traditional lands of the Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. I pay my respect to the stories, culture and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and emerging.

If you are unsure of the land you are currently occupying and who the traditional custodians are, you can find out here.
