Islands of Sanit

Islands of Sanity.

This series of hand-stitched mini quilts emerged in early 2025 heavily influenced by the writing of Margaret Wheatley, Colum McCann and Sarah Wilson.  Stitched as the world seemed to descend further & further into insanity.  I was struck by the phrase Margaret Wheatley coined, ‘islands of sanity’— creating small, meaningful spaces of refuge and possibility within chaotic systems, where people find purpose and healthy community.

Each quilt reflects a practice that gently resists the speed and fragmentation of modern life. They reflect the slow, steady work of restoring what has been frayed, suggesting that we can create our own islands where the human spirit is honoured and where relationships matter.

They are hand stitched islands. My attempt at making meaning from the brutality I was witnessing.
